smile

just a couple of the fun new pictures grandpa took of lucy!

grandpa and grammy...

came to help us in the aftermath of scott's surgery. not only did they support us in the fullness of day-to-day life (i can't imagine this week without their help!), david painted our entire basement (ceiling and walls) as well as lucy's new room! while grammy helped with lucy (and cooked and cleaned to no end), david also bought and installed a new garbage disposal, hauled furniture from floor to floor, mowed the lawn, repaired the dryer...the list goes on. we are very grateful for all the ways grammy and grandpa served us.
lucy was sad to go to bed tonight without all of their special hugs and kisses.

daddy's ouchies

both legs...and this is a whole week after surgery (to take care of 8 years of shin splints). perhaps you can imagine what his legs looked like when they were bruised AND swollen right after the procedure! ouch. lucy has been a champ, hanging out with dad and staying away from his ouchies...except for blowing kisses in the general direction of his toes.

purple shades

i've been trying for a long time to capture her in these sunglasses!

another new favorite thing she does

lucy has taken to laying in the grass under big trees. every once in a while when we are outside she disappears from view - until i realize that she has found a place on the ground to lay down and look up at the sky. today we put blankets in the backyard and watched airplanes fly overhead, a hawk circling in the sky, leaves blowing in the wind...she is busy, so she gets up and wanders around or tries to bounce on my belly or look for bugs, but she always comes back to my side and lays down. SO sweet.

spaghetti

family dinners are the best! this is my favorite time of day.

blue jeans

here she is enjoying a sunny, early fall day in her blue jeans. :) cute!
you may notice that lucy still doesn't have much hair...we are fast approaching the "mullet" phase as the hair on the back of her head somehow manages to get longer while the hair on top of her head gets whispier and lighter!
